Bansin - Mümmelkensee - Bansin: 11.3 km

Profile: Challenging route (up to 38 m above sea level)

Description: You start your hike directly from aja Bansin in the direction of Langer Berg (54 m). Shortly before you reach the summit, turn left into the nature reserve and follow the path to the idyllic Mümmelkensee lake. On the way there, it is worth stopping at the viewing platform with a view over the lake. You then cross the main road and walk past the Schieferberg and Schmollensee lakes to the Fangel forester's lodge. From there, the trail continues to the Krebsseen lakes near Neu Sallenthin. If you like, climb up the Krückenberg - the "Sieben-Seen-Blick" viewpoint offers a panorama you won't forget. Return via Bansin Dorf, then along the Fischerweg back to the hotel.
Tour 2
A group of people are walking along a forest path.

Usedom town - Welzin - Stolpe - Usedom town: 12.4 km

Profile: Apart from a few small climbs, this is a very pleasant tour (up to 15 m above sea level)

Description: Your tour starts in Usedom town - past the Usedom church, the local history museum in Anklamer Tor, the Schlossberg and the small harbour. From there, the route takes you through the town forest to Stolpe. Here it is worth taking a look at the medieval fieldstone church and making a detour to Stolpe Castle. You then hike across meadows and fields towards Welzin. In addition to the idyllic cheese dairy, with a bit of luck you may also spot buzzards, seagulls, swans or wild ducks. After Welzin, your route continues to Ostklüne - shortly after the cemetery, turn right onto the dyke and enjoy the view over the landscape.

The "Kaiserbäder" promenade: 11.2 km

Profile: Relaxed stroll along the longest beach promenade in Europe (completely flat and paved).

Description: You set off on the magnificent promenade right outside the door of the aja Bansin. You walk eastwards, always with the sea on your left and the magnificent seaside resort architecture on your right. Your first stop is the Heringsdorf pier, the longest of its kind in Germany. The route continues to Ahlbeck, where the historic pier from 1898 with its famous red towers makes for a perfect photo opportunity. Turn round just before the border with Poland. For the way back, we recommend heading directly to the beach - barefoot through the surf back to the Bansin pier, from where it's just a stone's throw to the hotel.
A man and a woman hold hands and walk along a path by the water.

Schloonsee - Bansin village: 9.2 km

Profile: Easy, family-friendly hike with almost no inclines through the village and nature.

Description: Your tour starts directly at the aja Bansin and first takes you a short distance inland. You walk around the idyllic Schloonsee, which lies directly behind the coastal dune and offers a wonderful view of the villas of the Kaiserbäder. The route continues into the historic centre of Bansin village. Here you can admire the traditional thatched-roof houses and take a detour to the Bansin Tropical House. Walk back along Seestraße with its small boutiques and cafés towards the promenade. The last kilometre is covered with a view of the Baltic Sea until you reach the pier and your hotel again.

Great nature tour to Lake Wocknin: 15.5 km

Profile: Varied forest hike on paved paths with a nature trail character.

Description: From aja Bansin, walk in a westerly direction (to the left of the sea) and dive directly into the dense Bansin forest. Follow the shady forest paths parallel to the coast until you reach the Wockninsee nature reserve. A signposted nature trail leads you around the mysterious, partially silted-up lake, where you can discover rare orchids and water birds. For the way back, we recommend the path above the edge of the dune or - if the sea is calm - a walk directly along the wide sandy beach. This way you can walk back to the starting point at the pier with a fresh sea breeze on your face.

Frequently asked questions about
Hiking on Usedom

Where do the best hiking trails in Bansin start?

The best thing first: you don't have to travel far. Varied walking and hiking trails start right outside the door of the aja Hotel, leading you either along the Baltic Sea coast or into the idyllic, wooded hinterland.

Which hiking routes on Usedom are particularly recommended?

To make your planning easier, we have put together five varied hiking routes for you. These will take you to the island's most beautiful viewpoints, through the imperial spas and along unspoilt natural lakes.

Is the Usedom region also suitable for beginner hikers?

Absolutely. Usedom offers a very well-developed and flat network of paths along the promenade, which is ideal for relaxed tours. If you prefer something a little more challenging, you will find small climbs with rewarding views in "Usedom Switzerland" or on the cliffs.

Can I combine my hike on Usedom with public transport?

Yes, this is easily possible. Many hiking trails can be ideally combined with the Usedomer Bäderbahn (UBB). For example, you can hike in one direction and take the train back to Bansin in comfort.

Do I need special equipment for hiking on Usedom?

For most paths on Usedom, comfortable, sturdy shoes are completely sufficient. As the weather can change quickly on the coast, we also recommend carrying a wind and weatherproof jacket in your rucksack.
