Lighthouse and tea pot

Two that simply belong together: the lighthouse and the Teepott. Both characterise the image of Warnemünde and are a real must-see on any visit. The lighthouse has towered over the promenade for over 100 years and anyone who climbs the 135 steps is rewarded with a breathtaking view over the beach, sea and harbour.
Right next to it: the Teepott - an architectural icon from the 1960s, where cafés and restaurants now invite you to linger.

When you think of Warnemünde, you think of fish sandwiches. And really good ones at that! Set off on a culinary tour of discovery along the promenade and try your way through the various stalls - matjes, bismarck or smoked fish, it tastes like the sea here.
Our tip: Make your way to the central pier - from here you have the best view of the Alter Strom and the colourful hustle and bustle of the harbour. All around are cosy restaurants, the fish market and plenty of fresh catch straight from the cutter. This is what Warnemünde tastes like!

Am Alten Strom - the heart of Warnemünde

Life pulsates here. The Alte Strom is the heart of Warnemünde: a lively harbour promenade along which you can stroll for hours. Fishing boats, sailing ships and small boutiques line the harbour, with the scent of freshly fried fish and sea air in between. Watch the hustle and bustle. The Alte Strom shows Warnemünde as it really is: maritime, relaxed and a little bit in love with life by the sea.

Try Danish soft ice cream

A walk along the promenade without soft ice cream? Not possible! Warnemünde has the Danish original - creamy, vanilla-flavoured and, in our opinion, simply the best. Especially delicious: with a sprinkling of cinnamon on top. Perfect for strolling along the Alter Strom , but beware: the seagulls love the ice cream too!

A walk on the beach

You don't have to wait for summer to enjoy the beach. When the wind blows over the dunes and the Baltic Sea glistens in the light, Warnemünde shows its quiet, almost magical side. Start at the aja Warnemünde, walk towards the Teepott and stroll back along the water towards the aja. This is the most beautiful route.

The pier lights - green here, red there

The green beacon watches over the end of the western pier - a classic photo motif and the perfect place to watch ships come and go. Over there, on the other side of the harbour entrance, the red counterpart shines in Hohe Düne. The ferry takes you there in just a few minutes and you can take a leisurely stroll to the lighthouse.
The detour is particularly worthwhile at sunrise and sunset: when the Baltic Sea glows and the lights of the two piers flash, Warnemünde shows itself from perhaps its most beautiful side.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the Alter Strom, it is worth taking a stroll through the small alleyways of Warnemünde. Here, colourful fishermen's cottages, lovingly tended front gardens and cobbled streets tell stories of the past.A real highlight: the Warnemünde local history museum in Alexandrinenstraße. In an old fisherman's house, you can find out what life was once like here - between seafaring, fishing and everyday coastal life. A place full of charm, history and maritime soul.

Ghost forest Nienhagen

Don't worry, nobody is haunted here and yet there is magic in the air. The ghost forest near Nienhagen, just a few kilometres from Warnemünde, is a real nature experience. The gnarled beech trees, moulded by the sea wind, create an almost fairytale-like atmosphere - especially when fog hangs over the cliffs.

Hohe Düne Seal Centre

A real highlight awaits just a short ferry ride away from Warnemünde: the seal research centre in Hohe Düne. Here you can observe the curious sea creatures up close: playing, swimming or sunbathing at the edge of the pool. Exciting and educational at the same time: at the Marine Science Centre, you can find out how seals are trained, researched and protected. An excursion that not only delights families and shows how clever and charming these animals really are.

By bike to Markgrafenheide

Get on your bike and off you go! From Warnemünde, one of the most beautiful coastal routes takes you directly to Markgrafenheide. The route runs past dunes, through pine forests and always with a fresh sea breeze in your nose. After around half an hour, you will reach the quiet seaside resort - perfect for a break on the beach. If you want to go further afield, Graal-Müritz is also a charming place.

Climb aboard, whistle! The historic Bäderbahn Molli takes you from Bad Doberan via Heiligendamm to Kühlungsborn with a whole lot of charm.The Molli is more than just a train - it's a piece of history on rails. Your perfect day at the beach starts just a few steps away from the aja. Wide sand, gentle waves and space to take a deep breath: here you are right in the middle of the Baltic Sea feeling. A walk in the morning, a dip in the sea at lunchtime, enjoying the sunset in the evening - it doesn't get any better than this. If you want something a little more vibrant, just walk towards the Teepott and you'll always find events on the beach.

Nienhagen beach by the ghostly forest

One of the most impressive beaches in the region lies directly below the ghostly forest. Cliffs, beech trees and the sound of the waves merge here to create a very special atmosphere. Perfect for a walk with a camera or simply to take a deep breath.

Markgrafenheide

A little away from the hustle and bustle, you will find wide beaches, pine forests and fine sand as far as the eye can see in Markgrafenheide. The section by the campsite and around beach access 24 is particularly beautiful and ideal for anyone looking for peace, nature and pure Baltic Sea air.

Torfbrücke is located between Markgrafenheide and Graal-Müritz - a real insider tip for anyone looking for peace and quiet. The beach here is unspoilt, surrounded by dunes, forest and wind. No hustle and bustle, no noise, just the sound of the Baltic Sea and a sweeping view over the sea. Perfect for all those who prefer to enjoy the north in its purest form.

Around 30 kilometres east of Warnemünde lies Graal-Müritz, a charming Baltic seaside resort with a kilometre-long beach and the striking pier. Here you can swim, stroll or let your gaze wander over the sea - a classic Baltic resort with maritime serenity.

to Darßer Ort

A piece of untamed nature awaits you at Darßer Ort, the westernmost point of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula. This is where the sea meets dunes, wind and endless expanses. The journey there is an experience in itself: by bike or on foot through the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park, past old pine trees, moors and grazing deer.
