IKARUS high-altitude circular trail

The IKARUS high-altitude circular trail is ideal for the whole family - thanks to paths suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, really everyone can go on a tour here. Take the IKARUS gondola lift up to the Bischling summit in comfort and then enjoy a relaxing walk along the panoramic trail around the summit cross. The highlight: a free nature cinema with a breathtaking view of 40 surrounding peaks!

Sunny side round

The tour takes you to the sunny side of the village. A picturesque forest and meadow path takes you leisurely uphill towards the Dreifaltigkeitskapelle chapel. The route continues through shady forests and along sunny forest roads to the Hochmaisalm, where you can enjoy a marvellous view of the Hochgründeck. Then it's a relaxed descent past the "Zan Hascht" mountain hut and the "Eulenberg". Back in the valley, a detour to the farm shop for a delicious ice cream is a must!

Alpine pasture tour

This special tour takes you through magnificent nature and offers delicious refreshment stops. The start is right at the hotel, from where you hike to the head of the Wengerau valley - with a picture-book landscape in tow! Continue to the Gamsblickalm and through the high moor to the Elmaualm. Here you have a choice: take a detour to the spectacular Werfener Hütte or continue directly to the Mahdegg Alm. At the end of the 16 kilometres, the return route leads back to the hotel with fantastic views.

Summer mountain lifts
Flying high!

From May to October, the summer mountain lifts take you up the Bischling near Werfenweng at a relaxed pace - with a guest card, you even get a reduced price! At 1,850 m, a breathtaking 360° panorama over the Salzach Valley and more than 40 peaks awaits you - perfect for hiking, mountain biking or a cosy stop-off. Our tip: As a guest at the aja Bergresort Werfenweng, you can use the Rosnerköpfl village railway free of charge in summer and enjoy the view over Salzburger Land to the full at 1,147 metres.

Short panoramic tour

Short, crisp and not for the faint-hearted: This 12-kilometre tour starts directly at the mountain resort and leads steeply uphill to the Hochmais-Alm, where a breathtaking panorama awaits you. After a well-earned break, the descent takes you along the Almstüberl "zan Hascht", perfect for a refreshment stop with regional specialities. Freshly refuelled, you roll back to the mountain resort relaxed.

To the Salzach and back

Off you go on a 15-kilometre round tour into the beautiful Salzach Valley! You start relaxed from the mountain resort and cycle downhill into the river valley. At the lowest point, you can enjoy the gentle ride on the Tauern cycle path and the magnificent mountain views! The way back takes you through charming villages, and a stop in Pfarrwerfen is worthwhile: the parish churches and the open-air museum on the Sieben-Mühlen-Weg are perfect for recharging your batteries. Then it's uphill back to the mountain resort.

Once around the Tennengebirge

This e-bike tour takes you around the impressive Tennengebirge mountains. From the mountain resort, you first head into the Salzach valley, where you can explore the Hohenwerfen fortress and the Salzach ovens. In Golling, you switch to the banks of the Lammer and cycle 35 kilometres moderately uphill with a view of the mountain scenery. A break at the Salettl in Lungötz gives you new strength before you head into the Fritzbach valley and over the last climb back to Werfenweng. Well-deserved relaxation awaits you back at the mountain resort!

Climbing

Climbing in Werfenweng takes you high up. Beginners in particular get their money's worth in the Tennengebirge. A climbing garden with 10 routes of varying difficulty awaits at the Werfener Hütte - ideal for trying out and warming up. There are also numerous climbing routes in the vicinity of the Werfener Hütte that are perfect for beginners and experienced climbers alike. If the weather doesn't play ball, the climbing hall in Werfen offers a great alternative!

Horse riding & carriage rides

The Steiger family's Oberegg horse farm offers riding experiences for all levels: from taster rides for children and beginners to riding lessons in the riding arena and various rides through unspoilt nature, along rivers or on the high-altitude trail.
