For us, sustainability is more than just a good feeling - it is measurable. That's why we are regularly certified by GreenSign, a recognised seal for sustainable hotel management. Over 100 criteria are checked - from energy efficiency and regional purchasing to social responsibility and economic fairness.

GreenSign assesses the result in five levels - from level 1 to level 5. The higher the level, the stronger the sustainable commitment. We are delighted that all our aja Hotels have been awarded GreenSign Level 4 - a sign that we have already achieved a great deal, but are continuing on our path towards even greater sustainability.

It not only saves around 2.9 million litres of water a year and around half of the chemicals and washing powder, but also half of the energy required for vacuuming and washing and drying laundry. For us, sustainability does not stop at the room door - it is also an integral part of everyday life in our restaurants. From breakfast to dinner, it is important to us that our food not only tastes delicious, but can also be enjoyed with a clear conscience. That's why we buy regional and seasonal products, favour organic quality and focus on fair trade.

Even small changes make a big difference: we don't use single-use plastic such as straws or individually wrapped butter and jams and are constantly working to reduce food waste. At our buffets, you can easily recognise sustainable dishes by the aja sustainability seal - the heart in the shape of a leaf and an ear of wheat. Regional

Home and quality - we source our products from Germany. Where possible, even from our local producers and farmers, such as bread from our local bakers.

Seasonal

Our cuisine is inspired by the changing seasons. This means being closer to nature, sustainability, absolute freshness and a wide variety of flavours.

Organic

In particular, we also support manufacturers of organic products, because organically produced food is valuable. for example, we use organic quality for our milk, oat milk, eggs, butter, margarine, cold cuts, cheese and much more.

We cook with fresh ingredients and ensure a balanced and varied culinary offering. We also incorporate varied, plant-based dishes such as our veggie lentil bolognese or fish from the field.

FairMast poultry

FairMast stands for modern, animal-friendly poultry farming. The chickens are reared on regional farms in Germany. All participating farmers guarantee compliance with high animal welfare standards when rearing the animals and fulfil the criteria of the entry level of the German Animal Welfare Association's label.
