GreenSign
Hotel certification
10 out of 10 of our aja Hotels are certified – in accordance with the GreenSign Hotel Standard (as at 09/2026).
Each hotel receives its own certificate. It applies to the specific location, in the standard version that has been audited, and for a specified period of validity. In other words, the certificate confirms that this particular hotel meets the requirements of the GreenSign Hotel Standard as they stood at the time of certification.
So how is such a certificate issued? First, an on-site audit checks our documentation. The results are then subject to a separate review – and it is this review that forms the basis for the certification decision.

We do not provide free disposable bath slippers; durable alternatives are available.
Dining Pleasure
In our restaurants, from breakfast through to dinner, we make sure that our food tastes delicious. When sourcing our ingredients, we take regional origin and seasonal availability into account for selected products.
aja meets Too Good To Go
Save food instead of throwing it away – join in! Even at hotel buffets, there are often delicious leftovers that are far too good to throw away. That’s why we offer leftover food at participating locations via Too Good To Go – for a small price.
It’s as simple as this: download the Too Good To Go app, find a participating aja Hotel near you, reserve your box and collect it from reception. Look forward to a delicious surprise!
First photovoltaic system at aja Grömitz
A photovoltaic system has been installed at the aja Grömitz, which generates solar power for the hotel’s operations. It produces around 80,000 to 90,000 kWh of clean electricity annually, which is used directly on site – thereby covering around 10 per cent of the hotel’s total electricity requirements.
The project was implemented in collaboration with EHA (Energie-Handels-Gesellschaft), the REWE Group’s main energy service provider. We will report on further completed installations once they have been commissioned.
