Information for dog owners

Dogs are expressly welcome at aja Grömitz! Please let us know when you book that you are travelling with your four-legged friend so that we can prepare everything for you. We charge €25 per night for your dog. One dog is allowed per room.

We are happy to provide a dog blanket and a bowl so that your animal companion feels completely at ease. We ask for your understanding that dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, bar and Grömitzer Welle.

The quieter time of year from November to March is ideal for a holiday at the Baltic Sea with your dog. During this time, all beaches are freely accessible - perfect for long walks, playing in the sand and romping around in the water.

But there is also plenty to discover around Grömitz outside of the beach season: long walks, coastal paths and forests that are wonderful to sniff out. So every day is a little adventure for man and dog.

Walks and excursions with dogs around Grömitz

The steep coast of Grömitz begins directly behind the marina - a small adventure area for curious four-legged friends. Between caves, tree roots and coastal paths, there is plenty to sniff out and discover.A walk along the dyke between Grömitz and Lenste is also worthwhile: fresh sea breeze, wide views and plenty of space for exercise. If you prefer more woodland, there is a fenced-in dog run in Kellenhusen Forest - perfect for playing, running around and meeting new dog friends.

What is an absolute must on a holiday in Grömitz with a dog? A visit to the dog beach, of course! There are several designated sections of beach in Grömitz where furry friends can run around freely, dig in the sand and jump into the sea.

There is plenty of space to play, splash around and relax - for two-legged and four-legged friends alike. This makes a day at the beach on the Baltic Sea a real highlight for humans and dogs alike.

Dog beach on the north beach

The dog beach is located near the Milloncino restaurant and stretches over a width of around 600 metres. Beach chairs can also be hired here. The north beach is located at the northern end of Grömitz and is around 20 to 30 minutes' walk from the town centre. The slowly sloping waters of the Baltic Sea offer ideal conditions for dogs who like to play in the water. A water dispenser and dog waste bags are available at the entrance to the dog beach.

Dog beach Lensterstrand

The Lensterstrand dog beach is located in the Lenste district of the municipality of Grömitz. This stretch of beach for dogs is unspoilt and has no other infrastructure. It is located in the northern part of the natural beach near the lock. There is a public toilet near the beach. For those who love heights, Lensterstrand also offers a climbing park and a viewing tower.

Dog beaches in Kellenhusen

Kellenhusen offers a total of three dog beaches. There is a dog beach in the northern area and two dog beaches in the southern area of Kellenhusen. The sandy beaches offer enough space for you and your four-legged friend. Car parks and sanitary facilities are available nearby. Dogs are allowed to run around off the lead on the designated dog beaches - a lead is compulsory in the village, on the promenade and in the forest.

Good to know!

In the low season from November to March, dogs are allowed on all sections of the beach in Grömitz. During the season from 1 April to 31 October, the beaches, with the exception of the dog beaches of course, are off-limits to four-legged friends.
