Hotel certification
Sustainability is not a trend at aja, but part of our everyday life. All aja hotels have been awarded GreenSign Level 4 - a seal of quality for particularly sustainable hotel management.
GreenSign certification checks over 100 criteria in areas such as the environment, energy, social issues and the economy. It is not just about what we are already doing today, but also about how we can continue to improve.
We are proud that our commitment has been awarded level 4 - a sign that relaxation and responsibility go hand in hand at aja. So you can enjoy your holiday on the Baltic Sea with a clear conscience.
aja meets
Too Good To Go
Too often, good food is thrown away - even from the hotel buffet. We want to change that! That's why we are now working with Too Good To Go. Our common goal: passing on instead of throwing away.
From now on, you can help save food at aja. Via the Too Good To Go app, we pass on leftover food at a special price - delicious, sustainable and useful.
Take a look now and discover how easy it is to get involved. Together, we'll make sure that good food ends up where it belongs: on your plate.

Water, a precious and limited resource, is of crucial importance for the survival of mankind and the preservation of our environment. Therefore, the responsible management of water plays a prominent role in our endeavours.

- The water comes from legal and sustainable sources that will not affect environmental flows in the future.
- The hotel ensures that all water installations and systems (e.g. taps, cooling) are regularly maintained and serviced.

- Use of flow restrictors / aerators
- Use of sustainable cleaning chemicals (where possible) to minimise environmental impact
- Room cleaning at two-day intervals
- 2-flush cisterns
- Use of water-saving shower heads in all areas
Energy
Energy consumption and the energy transition are central to our philosophy, to which we are already devoting our full commitment for an improved and sustainable future. We are actively implementing measures and developing concepts that include our guests as well as our employees and hotels. Our main focus is on reducing the use of fossil fuels in order to make our contribution to environmental protection.
- The hotel obtains electricity from renewable sources to improve its carbon footprint - 100% green electricity in all hotels (from 01.01.2024).
- The hotel regularly and systematically records and monitors energy consumption (e.g. electricity, heating oil, natural gas).
- Use of modern LED technology
- Regular cleaning and maintenance of our technical equipment and systems
- Modern heating and cooling systems
- Use of combined heat and power units (only at the appropriate location)
- No minibars in the rooms - use of maxibars in the hotel shops
- Energy check with specialist consultant/expert (determination of energy requirements and consumption, description and analysis of weak points, suggestions for savings measures)
- Own energy officer in the company
Social and community
We are committed to strengthening social justice, combating inequality and protecting the rights of minorities. We enter into dialogue with politics, business and society in our markets and always act as a partner at eye level.

Food
From breakfast to dinner - our food should not only taste good, but also have as little impact on the environment as possible. That's why, when purchasing our products, we pay attention to regionality and seasonality, organic quality and fair trade.
- We cook with fresh ingredients and make sure our culinary offerings are balanced and varied. We also incorporate varied, plant-based dishes such as our veggie lentil bolognese or fish from the field.
- We enhance quality by using sustainable products from environmentally friendly and resource-conserving cultivation.
- Supporting initiatives to reduce food waste - TooGoodToGo
- We also support producers of organic products in particular.
- Large number of plant-based alternatives and vegan products.
- We are inspired by the changing seasons in our kitchen. This means more closeness to nature, sustainability, absolute freshness and variety.
